Update #3 - Well On Our Way To "Manage All The Things!" Goal

Hello fellow adventurers!

What a crazy last 10 days it has been! We've received a ton of feedback on all aspects of GM Binder - some we've never even thought of - and then we hit our initial funding goal in less than 4 days time! Now we're well on our way to hitting our next goal for Manage All The Things!

One of the side effects of having so many new eyes on GM Binder is that we are getting a lot of questions about the core functionality of the platform, and how to use it. So over the next few days, we are going to be starting a new series called What Is GM Binder to help people who are new to GM Binder learn what the platform is capable of today, as well as what's coming in the future. These will be super short walkthroughs of the core features of GM Binder.

With no further ado...

 What is GM Binder Series - Part 1: The Editor 

The core feature of GM Binder is that it's a document editor. As an author, you are able to use a very simple syntax called Markdown to compose your documents. We handle all of the basic formattings for you and provide you with a robust set of snippets to use. This means that you really don't need to know the details of how to layout your document.

As you can see in the video below, the preview updates as you type, and dropping things in, like a monster block, are super easy to do.

Additionally, power users are able to leverage basic HTML and CSS to really take control of the layout of their documents. This can be as simple as adding images to your documents, all the way to completely changing the theme and page layout in your documents.

Weekly Twitch Stream

Starting next Monday, we are going to start a new weekly series on Twitch called GM Binder Live Q & A. We'll be airing at 8pm CST (1am GMT-5) and will be answering any and all GM Binder related questions. We will most certainly be discussing questions from the What is GM Binder series, as well as any questions you throw into chat.

Working in this Kickstarter environment has been an interesting beast to learn. One of the more interesting things is how well different campaigns work together to spread the word of each other's work. We really cannot say it enough, this whole experience has already been pretty wonderful, and we have no idea what to expect over the next 26 days. Your support has been so encouraging, and you really have no idea of the impacts this has for me personally, and the team as a whole. Building GM Binder has been rewarding on its own, but putting together this Kickstarter campaign and interacting with new people has been humbling, to say the least.

We hit our funding goal on day 4!

To say we're excited would be an understatement, but now we're locked in for the first set of updates, and pushing to our second goal - Manage All The Things!

When we complete this level we'll be committing to building the entire My Library screens where you manage your binders, documents, and bookmarks.

This is where we will also be committing to building the ability to follow your favorite Author or document, and you'll get updates from these as they push updates to their documents or release new documents.

We'll also be committing to fully building out our automated PDF and image generation system. This will not only make sharing documents from GMB much more stable and consistent than it is today, but it also means that we will have a solid foundation in ALL major browsers like Firefox, IE, Edge, Safari.

Let me repeat that - ALL major browsers!

Thank you all so much for making these last few days such an amazing ride!

We are well on our way to funding this project and are super pumped to have so many people show their support here. But this is just the beginning!

Next week we are going to make some updates to the features defined within the campaign related to a few questions and suggestions that we've received from backers. I hope to have this updated mid-week.

The biggest news though... still has details to be ironed out. All I can say at this point is, we have had some very productive conversations with DungeonFog and World Anvil, and we're hoping to make some announcements in the next week or so that no one will see coming.

On a personal note - Life has an interesting way of throwing curveballs at you. Those of you who have directly interacted with me in the past know that I'm a pretty responsive guy.  However, just as this campaign got off the ground, I got some family news that has pulled me away and is going to pull me away more next week. I don't care to go into detail since it's personal, but I feel I owe it to this community to at least give some notice as to why I've been quiet recently.

Fortunately, I'm not alone with this crazy ride, and the engine will keep on a chugging. If I did have one ask of you, the community, it's to continue to share our updates and encourage your friends and fellow players to join our passionate community of creators!

So yeah... ups, downs, lefts, and rights - keep moving forward!
