10/23 Update - Almost Finalized and Trello Board
about 5 years ago – Wed, Oct 23, 2019 at 11:05:34 PM

We're 1 week out from the close of our campaign, and things are starting to get rolling. We are waiting for KS to finalize the campaign, and we expect to get that update by this time next week.

To help communicate our roadmap and status of features, we have established a public Trello board for you to use. We will use this board to update the features that are in our backlog, what we are working on, and what is complete. You can find it here: https://trello.com/b/aFxTLOGQ/gm-binder

We have also made solid progress on our BackerKit survey and will be sending that out as soon as KS confirms our campaign. In BackerKit you will be able to not only confirm things like shirt sizes and mailing addresses, but you'll also have the option to add things on to your pledge.

If you would like to join our conversation on Discord, you can do so here: https://discord.gg/e8W266q

And finally, we're going to work on consolidating these updates into a single place within GM Binder itself, but for now, we will continue to post to Kickstarter and Twitter.

I think that pretty much covers things at this point. As always, thanks for the support you've shown us, and please do reach out with any questions. We and the community are happy to help as best we can!

Thanks!

This is it! Last 12 hours!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Oct 16, 2019 at 11:18:08 PM

Here we are - 12 hours from knowing where you amazing people are going to put us!

Will we hit $55k? Will we hit $65k? Who knows!

But one thing is certain - your support has been amazing, and we are going to build out a ton of new features for GM Binder over the coming months!

One question I have been asked - Do we intend to build the features in the goals that were not met? And the answer is Yes! They, along with a handful of other features will be built, but they will be at our own pace.

Thanks again for the support! We really do appreciate it!

48 Hour Countdown Has Begun!
over 5 years ago – Mon, Oct 14, 2019 at 09:57:18 PM

Well, with just under 48 hours to go, we're nearing the end of this campaign. We have learned so much throughout the last month, and as we release new features for GM Binder over the coming months, I absolutely expect we will learn even more.

We will keep this KS updates coming, but will, of course, be turning down the number of emails we send and will keep the updates for backers only. We do have plans to create a GM Binder blog in the near future, but we'll also use social media to keep people updated.

Shortly after the campaign ends, all backers will receive an email from us with a link to the pledge manager. We are using BackerKit for this, and you will have all of the normal options you'd expect there. You will be able to increase your pledges there, and add on things like a dice set, t-shirt, or foldable dice trays. But if you already know you want them - bump your KS pledge now and help us hit our next goal!

On that - These last 48 hours are it. Anything you can do to help us promote our Kickstarter would be greatly appreciated. Use all the socials. Make all of the positive comments. And just do your thing. In the end, much of what we've discussed as new features with GM Binder will get completed, but the more support we get in the next two days, the faster we will be able to accomplish them.

Talking about spreading the word, there are a number of people outside of our team that I want to thank with a small plug here:

Adam Hancock, Ashley May, Dael Kingsmil, DMDave, Janet and Dimi with WorldAnvil, Till with DungeonFog, Steve Fidler, Worlds Grittiest DM, BornToDoStuff, Rhaenon,  Bryan Holmes, Dump Stat Adventures, Kibbles Tasty, Amellwind, the 2,000 people in /r/gm_binder, the 30,000+ creators and the 1,100,000 readers who have used GM Binder in the last 24 months, and again - my team - without you none of this could have or will happen.  Oh! and the hundreds, if not thousands of people that I have interacted with on the 20+ discord servers I have participated in. Discord of Many Things folks - you hold a special place in my heart!

I'm sure I'll post the teary-eyed post in the days after the campaign ends, but this is a good start.

Please, help us make this next 48 hours all that it can be!

People Who Use GM Binder - DMDave
over 5 years ago – Fri, Oct 11, 2019 at 07:25:42 PM

Before we even kicked off this campaign, we knew there were thousands of people who were using GM Binder to create content. Nearly 30,000 of them!

And we know that there are a number of creators who sell their content on various online marketplaces and creator supporting platforms. We reached out to a few of them to get their thoughts on why they use GM Binder, and what their experience has been thus far.

Here are a few questions that we asked DMDave, Chief Dave at https://dmdave.com/!

Q: Why GM Binder?

A: I used GM Binder’s competitor Homebrewery for a long time. I had to teach myself a lot of extra things in order to use it. Had I used GM Binder from the beginning, though, I probably would have had to learn a LOT less haha. GM Binder’s User Interface is a bajillion times better than HB’s and it just looks so dang slick.

Q: What's your favorite feature(s)?

A: Themes! I love being able to put my content into the various formats of the official 5e books as well as some of GMB’s original. It really helps the stuff stand out. I also dig the organization of the files; super easy to access.

Q: What's your top GM Binder pro-tip?

A: When you’re first starting to learn GM Binder and create your own stuff, be sure to check out how the official books arrange their material with regards to art, layouts, header tags, etc. and try your best to duplicate those, especially if you want your stuff to look legit. Fifth Edition has a lot of little subtle formatting guidelines that are easy to miss.

Thanks Dave!
