People Who Use GM Binder - Ashley May

Before we even kicked off this campaign, we knew there were thousands of people who were using GM Binder to create content. Nearly 30,000 of them!
And we knew that there were a number of creators who sold their content on various online marketplaces. We wanted to reach out to a few of them to get their thoughts on why they use GM Binder, and what their experience has been thus far.
Here are a few questions that we asked Ashley May, author of "The Lover's Handbook" and a number of other titles!
Q:Why GM Binder?
A: When I was first entering into the RPG writing field, I didn't have the available funding to make a go of most professional software available at the time. I'm a writer at my core and try as I might, I've never been able to wrap my head around code, but I'd heard good things about GM Binder and decided to give it a shot for my now Platinum Best Seller, "The Lovers' Handbook". The degree of documentation, the community built around GM Binder, and the customizability of it allowed me to create a document that I never could've pulled off with the other tools available to me.
Q:What's your favorite feature(s)?
A: It's hard to pick! The markup language is very easy to learn. Furthermore, CSS isn't my jam at all but being able to make minor tweaks and instantly see them reflected in the document gives me a lot more confidence in my ability to modify themes and templates. I love that I can make a document that looks like a perfect professional clone or spin wildly off in a different direction with relative ease.
Q:What's your top GM Binder pro-tip?
A: "<div style='margin-top:100px;'></div>" is my best friend. The ability to move something by a specific number of pixels up or down has saved so many layouts. By extension, I have to say, never stop tweaking! The ability to watch your document refresh with every change means you can spend all the time you need nudging a picture by a pixel or two, resizing it by five pixels at a time, until it's perfect. One or two pixels can make all the difference in how clean and polished your layout looks.

A: In terms of electronics to my name, I have a Chromebook and a smartphone. So, I was on the market for something web-based that didn't require the installation of new programs. My laptop simply wouldn't allow for it. GM Binder let me do whatever I wanted with the layout to make a professional-looking product without requiring me to upgrade my computer.
Q:What's your favorite feature(s)?
A: This is a simple thing, but one that sets GM Binder apart from Homebrewery: I can click on a header in the preview panel and it immediately takes me to the same spot in the code panel. I don't know how I ever survived before I had this feature.
Q:What's your top GM Binder pro-tip?
A: First of all, don't go with the default. 99% of people complaining about GM Binder are really just complaining that they all look the same. So, my pro-tip is to wantonly borrow code from other themes and documents. There's really no reason to reinvent the wheel. Beneath the veneer of my documents is a Frankenstein's monster of code stitched together from various sources. But it all works together, and it's beautiful.
Thanks Adam!

8 Days Remaining - Why Not Add More Features For Everyone!
– Mon, Oct 07, 2019 at 08:06:08 PM
Let's get right into it!
We are adding more features to the Kickstarter goals, and are bringing down the goal levels slightly to ensure we are able to deliver even more value to each and every one of you.
Many of these changes are directly related to the feedback that we have received during this campaign, and others have been features that we were thinking about, but just hadn't fully baked out.
You can review the graphic below for the full details, but a couple of the highlights are:
Document ratings and Powerful search are now in the third goal - Navigate All The Things!
PNG & JPG generation, cross-browser support, theme building, and the image gallery are now all in the fourth goal - Browse All The Things!
And finally, the content bookmarking tool and Image blender are in the fifth goal - Curate All The Things!
Our intent with this really is to give you, the backers, even more reason to support us and our efforts. We would not be here without you and our gratitude for each and every one of your's support is something hard to put into words.
Thank You!
8 days to go on this crazy adventure!

This has been a really interesting few weeks, and I am really excited to see that we hit the Manage All The Things! goal today!
Now we're moving on to "Navigate All The Things!", I'm sure this will be just as interesting.
I'll keep this update short and simply ask you to follow the link below to a Tweet we just published, and ask you to like and retweet it.
World Anvil + GM Binder: Forging a New Relationship
over 5 years ago
– Sat, Oct 05, 2019 at 12:50:27 AM
Today we are honored to announce that we are working with the fine folks at World Anvil to build various integrations between our two platforms. In the words of Dimitris - lead developer at World Anvil:
"Wouldn't it be cool if... You were able to get your work from World Anvil sent to GM Binder so you can export it in a beautifully crafted PDF format and publish it in a storable format? Well, I am guessing the answer is “YES”"
The goal of these integrations will be to allow both platforms to excel at the things they are good at, and to give all users the tools they need to run their campaigns and manage their publications in the most efficient way possible.
We're still really early in working out the details, but we are extremely excited about what's to come!
